Regal Elegance: Embracing the Timeless Beauty of Benarasi Sarees!

Every Indian girl’s dream is to own a rich, beautiful and heavy weight bridal benarasi saree
at some point in her life. The wedding look is incomplete without this gorgeous attire. I have
had the good fortune of owning some of the most beautiful pure benarasi silk sarees as my
roots have an association with Benaras.
The benarasi saree makes you look like a queen! The colors are rich and vibrant and the
golden or silver threadwork takes the saree to another level. A puff sleeve blouse or a
brocade blouse or a three fourth sleeve blouse, a traditional long bindi or a round red/
maroon bindi, lots of ornaments, hands full of golden bangles, a mang tika, a nathni ,
gorgeous makeup and the hair tied in a bun or left open with a front parting.. and if married
sindoor..that is the portrait of a quintessential married woman.

Red, maroon and rani pink are my favourite colors in benarasi. The royal zardozi benarasi is
also as pretty as the traditional benarasi pure silk saree but only heavier. These sarees are
mainly wedding sarees so you have to put in alot of effort into draping the sarees well.
Costume jewellery or kundan jewellery doesn’t go with every bridal benarasi saree that you
would be wearing. Be selective about your choice. I usually stick to gold jewellery or gold
plated jewellery as it enhances the golden thread work of the saree manifold.
I have posted three different looks wearing three of the most heavily embroidered bridal
benarasi sarees I have along with videos alongside this article. The moment you start
getting ready for the occasion, you are just consumed by the magnanimity and timeless
beauty of the saree..there is truly no saree as beautiful as the benarasi

The first is the traditional Bengali bride look- the rani pink and green combination of the
saree almost makes me feel like a queen when draped in the Bengali style. Loaded with lots
of bangles, a traditional bindi and a choker necklace, I have felt every bit magnanimous like
the saree.
The second is the bridal red zardozi benarasi- a sindoori red benarasi with patali pallu
holds a special place in every girl’s heart specially when she gets married and this is no
secret. Replete with gold ornaments and sindoor, you would be everything that dreams are
made of.

The third saree has been draped in the lehenga style with a kankan to help create the flair at
the bottom. I have chosen this maroon and gold saree as I am fascinated by the way in
which the golden thread work is spread across the length of the saree. It enhances the
texture of the saree by giving it a golden shine. I left the hair open, pinned to the back with a
middle parting so that I could wear the maang tika that goes so well with the lehenga style.
Have a look at the accompanying pictures and videos to see all the looks I have created
with the regal benarasi bridal sarees
