I am fascinated by the sheer magical craftsmanship of the benarasi saree and I have the most exquisite pure silk benarasi sarees in my collection. Chosen with care, I have almost all the colors of this beautiful saree type in my closet. I will be sharing my bridal collection with you…which I lovingly call my SAAT PHERAS collection.
1. The bottle green and silver benarasi saree- This beautiful saree gives a queen-like grandeur to a girl. The silver thread work runs throughout the length of the saree and the front of the saree near the feet has a flowery pattern, which in Bengali is called the patali pallu. It is a heavy weight saree and I would choose to wear it for a reception or a function. It is rich, gorgeous and traditionally captivating to all.
2. The rani pink and sky blue benarasi saree with silver thread work- This is one of my favourite sarees as the color combination is unique and perfectly balanced. This is also a patali pallu saree which means it has a different pattern at the foot area. The saree has beautiful buti work all over and a flowery pattern at the foot area. The silver threadwork lends a shine to the saree which makes it a perfect fit for any festival or marriage function.
3. The rani pink and golden benarasi- This is a light weight, bridal, pure benarasi silk saree. It has golden thread work set in a circular pattern throughout the length of the saree. It has a narrow border and the visual look of the saree is extremely appealing. The material is soft and drapes around the body very easily. Altogether a picture perfect saree!
4. The magenta and sky blue benarasi saree- This is a heavy weight gorgeous saree! It has golden buti work all over and the dual color combination works wonders when draped in the Bengali style. The saree has sky blue patali pallu . The entire saree is an ornament in itself – beautiful, traditional and royal!
5. The magenta and green zardosi benarasi saree- I call this saree the “queen benarasi” as it is extremely gorgeous to look at…has a royal queen-attire touch to say the least. It is just yards and yards of golden stone embroidery and golden thread work. The entire saree is magenta in color and the pallu is contrasting green with extended stone work across the border. Magnificent and heavy weight- the saree is a must-have in every woman’s closet.
6. The black and green pashmina saree- This saree has flowery butiwork all over and the border has a reddish tinge to it. Thread work extends throughout the length of the saree. It is a simple yet stunning saree in my collection.
7. The black and pink pashmina saree- This saree has a pink patali pallu which falls on the foot when worn. Buti work and floral thread work extend throughout the length of the saree. Beautiful and elegant, it can be worn to any function with applomb.
8. The violet and red kanjivaram saree- The unique violet and red color of this kanjivaram saree makes it stand out amongst all the kanjivaram sarees I have. It is simple, lightweight and yet so eye-catchy. My mother always wanted me to wear kanjivaram sarees since I was born in south india and if she were alive I would have surely picked this saree as my first kanjivaram saree to be preserved for a lifetime! The saree has beautiful golden buti work all over and honestly I am just waiting to wear this saree and show the pictures! It is just the perfect festival saree.
9. Red and green zardosi benarasi pure silk saree- As you can see this is the quintessential queen saree as it has a royal touch to it. The dual red-green color combination with zardosi work done all over makes it the perfect bridal saree. The saree has heavy stonework and golden thread work done all over. The saree has an extended leaf-like golden border which just adds more shine to it. Gorgeous and heavy weight, the saree is majestic and tailor-made for all traditional rituals.
10. The bridal red benarasi- This is a typical sindoori red bridal benarasi pure silk saree. There is golden thread work all through the saree but it is refreshingly light weight. It looks gorgeous and is very easy to carry as well. The border has a triangular pattern that extends towards the body of the saree. The softness of texture and the color just complement each other in this beautiful saree.
11. The light blue net saree- I would call it the most sensational saree in my closet! The color of this saree is simply unique. You will just not get it elsewhere! There is blue stonework and thread work throughout the length of the saree and the softness of the net just carries the craftwork so beautifully. The perfect party wear, it would just make you stand out in the crowd.. wherever you go!
12. The traditional zardosi bridal red benarasi- This reddish orange saree has golden and silver stone work and thread work all over length of the saree. The saree is heavy weight and extremely gorgeous to say the least. Wear it with a puff-sleeve blouse and in the Bengali style and see yourself transform into a Bengali bride.
