Who would not love to shoot on a beach? The waves, sand, rocks and the setting sun are all picturesque visuals to say the least. Touching the water with bare hands, carving on the sand or just walking amidst waves is all so much fun! It just gets you in a happy mood no matter how busy your day was. The natural light of the sun, the breeze and the marvellous view of the sky and waves would all look so resplendent in the photographs you take!
The best time to shoot on a beach would be 5 pm in the evening. The light of the sun would be golden and you would not need any reflector or lighting arrangement to shoot with your camera.

I chose aksa beach for my shoot as it has a combination of sea and rocks both. I wanted to capture the setting sun and the breeze flowing through my hair as I walk through water. Creating ripples in water specially when the waves are lashing towards you give me a different feeling of nostalgia altogether! I was born in Chennai and we lived opposite Elliott beach so I have done this almost all of my formative years.
I wanted to wear two bright colors and two contrasting colors for my shoot to see how the pictures would come out and so I chose maroon, red, white which had some embellishments and black! Well to be honest all shades of colors look great on a beach scenario so just don’t panic when you have to choose your outfit. Your dress would inevitably get wet so make sure you are comfortable in the material you choose.
The maroon gown I am wearing is from Newme (fashion brand). I love the color and I feel it is just standing out in the beach scenario where everything is mostly blue and brown. The gown looks gorgeous because it has frills and is flowy as well. I have shown all the various poses that can be tried at the beach wearing a gown. Check out all the pictures and videos I have posted.
The red bodycon is an old favourite of mine purchased from a shop called Falak in Lokhandwala market, Andheri West(Mumbai). The color red looks bright in the setting sun and one just glows more in the pictures in natural light I feel. I had a lot of fun shooting my videos specially. The length of the dress helped me to walk through the water effortlessly!
The third dress I wore was a mix of a bodycon and a tail dress as you can see. It is basically a white dress but with multicolor hues and it looks so ethereal in this beach setting I must say. Aksa beach has rocks and I wanted to pose on the rocks with this outfit as the color of the outfit would be in stark contrast with the brown color of the rocks. Check out my pictures right here!
The sun had already set by the time I wore my black gown and I wanted to pose against the setting sun. The diminished light of the sun gives a brownish tinge to my pictures and videos as you can see. Walking towards the sea, playing with the hair, standing on the rocks with the breeze flowing through the hair and dress.. these are the various things you can do to get the perfect picture. Well, it was cold by the time I clicked my pictures in this outfit but am sure it just didn’t show in my recording!
When you are shooting at the beach, make sure you are comfortable in your chosen outfit as the wind would be blowing in every direction so you wouldn’t want to look awkward in your pictures. Honestly, I just enjoy the way the breeze teases my hair and i respond accordingly. In short, just enjoy yourself and have a blast!
